They are sold at many sporting goods stores and hardware stores.
What is a CB can?
A CB can refers to a cassette butane canister.
It is used for stoves on tables when cooking hot pot dishes at home.
A major advantage is that it can be easily purchased at convenience stores, so even if you forget to bring one, you can buy it along the way.
It is also the cheapest among the fuels introduced.
Its appearance is rather domestic and might lack a bit of an outdoor feel (the ambiance is also important for camping), but by unifying the fuel with other gas appliances like lanterns, you can further reduce running costs.
White Gasoline
White gasoline is gasoline specifically formulated for outdoor burners.
Gasoline used in automobiles has its flash point adjusted and contains engine cleaning agents, which tend to produce soot. As a result, the vaporizer (generator) in burners designed for white gasoline can clog, rendering them unusable.
Ignition requires pressurizing the fuel tank (pumping) and preheating to vaporize the fuel.
It may not go smoothly at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll have the leisure to enjoy it as a "ritual."
Because pumping and preheating forcibly vaporize the fuel, it can be used even in cold regions without a drop in pressure.
How to choose a two-burner stove for family camping
Portability
Portability tends to be Gasoline > OD Can > CB Can.
This is because gasoline inevitably requires a tank and generator, OD cans need to be set upright (or upside down), and CB cans can be placed horizontally.
Durability
For gas-powered models, the connection point is precisely made to prevent gas leaks.
Therefore, care must be taken against impact.
Gasoline models tend to have higher durability compared to gas models.
This is because maintenance kits are sold, allowing you to clean the generator and replace gaskets yourself, extending its lifespan. It can even be passed down through generations.
Fuel efficiency
It can be said that combustion efficiency is Gasoline > OD can > CB can.
Gasoline has no drop-down effect, and you can add more fuel (after confirming the flame is out) or return any leftover fuel to a carrying can, allowing for efficient use without waste.
OD cans are relatively resistant to cold if they contain propane gas, and drop-down is less likely to occur.
The capacity is also larger than CB cans, so one can (two for a two-burner stove) is usually sufficient for a family of four for a one-night trip.
CB cans are susceptible to cold and prone to pressure drop. Their capacity is also smaller than OD cans.
However, CB cans are inexpensive, and if you run out of gas suddenly, they can be easily obtained at convenience stores, making them a convenient option.
