Which Snow Peak tarp should I choose?

If you're going to buy one, we recommend Snow Peak, not only for its quality but also for its immense popularity.

Here are the criteria for choosing a Snow Peak tarp and its excellent features.

Snow Peak tarps have many popular models,
but the best recommendation depends on your intended use.

By reading this article, you'll learn about:
・How to choose a Snow Peak tarp
・Recommended tarps
・Who each product is recommended for

How to choose a Snow Peak Tarp

Choose tarp size based on the number of users

The most important factor when choosing a tarp is its size.
Specifically, you should aim for sizes like the following:

  • The stated capacity for "number of users + 2" is just right.
  • The stated capacity for "number of users + 3" allows for ample space for luggage.

For children who are not yet in elementary school, you can roughly calculate two children as one adult.

For families with children entering elementary school, count them as one adult when determining the number of users.

Choose the shape

Tarps come in several shapes, as shown above.

The pitching method is the same for all, and once you get used to it, it's easy to set up.

However, there are differences in ease of entry/exit and the amount of shade provided, so it's best to choose one that fits your camping style.

For rain resistance, PU coated models are recommended

Choosing a PU coated model will make it harder for rain to seep through.

If you plan to use it during the rainy season, you should consider this.

Snow Peak Tarp: Concerns and Excellent Features

・Higher price setting, a reflection of high quality
・Many people use it

・Design that harmonizes with nature
・High quality crafted by artisans
・Comprehensive after-sales service

Concerns about Snow Peak Tarps

Price

This applies to Snow Peak products in general, but the price setting is higher.

Considering the reliable quality crafted by artisans that can be used for a long time, the price is understandable.

Overlap with others

Most of the camping grounds are filled with Snow Peak products.

Some people mind this, but it just means the product is recognized by many.

For beginners, choosing a model used by many campers is also a way to make a purchase without failure.

Excellent Features of Snow Peak Tarps

Design

Simple design that harmonizes with nature.

And it has a unique character that is instantly recognizable as Snow Peak.

Snow Peak's hexatarps are famous and well-regarded for their ease of entry/exit and overall usability.

High quality made in Tsubame-Sanjo

Made in Japan with high quality, reflecting the craftsmanship and dedication of artisans.

The water pressure resistance is displayed as a minimum value under the worst conditions, not the maximum value.

This also demonstrates confidence in their own products.

After-sales service

Snow Peak products do not come with a warranty card.

This is based on their philosophy of taking responsibility for quality.

If there is a manufacturing defect, they will repair or replace it free of charge.

In other cases, they accept repairs at a fair price.

How to Pitch and Set Up a Snow Peak Tarp

Here's how to pitch a Snow Peak tarp.

It might seem like there are many steps, but I've broken it down, so the actual process isn't that difficult.

It's smoother to set up with two people at first, but you can set it up alone once you get used to it.

The procedure is the same for hexa, square, and other types of tarps, including those from other manufacturers.

Everything is a challenge.

Please give it a try.

  1. Place the tarp body where you want to pitch it.
  2. From here, for both left and right sides:
  3. Set the lower part of the pole outwards from the peak.
  4. Insert the pole, main body, and rope in that order from the bottom into the hole at the peak of the tarp.
  5. Pitch the ropes at a 45-degree angle from the pole to the left and right.
  6. Raise the two poles while adjusting the ropes.
  7. Fix the poles and pitch the remaining ropes to complete.

How to choose poles

When purchasing a tarp, check if poles are included.

If they are not included, you will need to purchase them separately.

Also, using sub-poles allows for more pitching variations, adapting to the number of people and situations.

Regarding poles, unlike pegs, the included ones are often durable enough for use.

And if it's a Snow Peak, it's an even more reliable purchase.
