Customers often ask about the atmosphere of the store. We talk about movies, books, and music. The walls are decorated with many records, and big band jazz plays from the record player. There's a bookshelf with about 50 to 60 books of various genres that you can freely read.
The concept is "camping." However, people often say the store is chaotic. What I want to convey is that camping is just one of my hobbies. And the wonder of having hobbies.
I'm not trying to force anyone to take up camping. What I want to offer is a time to step away from daily life and a chance to discover a new hobby. For example, getting into records would be nice.
On the bookshelf, you'll find books written by comedians, novels set in Shimokitazawa, photo books, and novels by my favorite authors: Haruki Murakami, Kiyoshi Shigematsu, and Banana Yoshimoto. On our online shop, I also publish blog posts about director Juzo Itami, whom I deeply admire.
Watching movies, listening to music, reading, and camping. I share information about various hobbies because I want to convey the wonderfulness of having hobbies.
I believe people with hobbies are more resilient to stress. When you're tired from work, you can refresh yourself by watching your favorite movie, listening to music, or reading a book.
Things are tough in the world, but I want to reduce the number of people without hobbies, even a little. That's my wish.
Therefore, instead of trying to force camping on people, I offer opportunities in a casual cafe to read books you wouldn't normally pick up or listen to new music.
Books, music, records, camping. These are things that can give hints to those who are struggling.
