Normally, when checking the weather forecast, many of you probably look at the temperature, weather, pollen information, or heatstroke alerts for where you live. However, when you go camping, you need to look at the weather forecast from a slightly different perspective.
That's why I recommend the smartphone weather app "Weathernews." This app allows you to see pinpoint weather across Japan up to two weeks in advance and get weather information from various angles.
What I especially want you to check before going camping is the wind strength information. As I briefly mentioned in yesterday's broadcast, strong winds while camping are truly tough! Not only are there safety risks, but if you're solo camping, pitching a tent can be really difficult. When putting up a large tarp, it would be great if someone could help, but if you're alone, you need to use objects to hold it down, and those objects can sometimes get blown away by strong winds. Personally, I'd rather avoid strong winds than rain.
Once you've decided on a campsite, first enter its address into Weathernews and check the weather forecast. I recommend looking at the forecast for the next few days and understanding the trend of wind strength one to two weeks in advance.
And one more important thing is the minimum temperature. We tend to only pay attention to the maximum temperature, but be sure to check the minimum temperature as well. Even if it's warm during the day, it can get suddenly cold at night. Prepare thoroughly for the cold based on the minimum temperature. It's important to choose appropriate gear, such as wearing Heattech or preparing a warm sleeping bag.
