I've felt since my student days that zines are a wonderful medium that extracts only the best parts of paper media like magazines and books, and whenever I go to my favorite independent bookstores in Shimokitazawa or Kamakura, I always buy up a bunch of stylish zines. (I am in ShimokitazawaB&BI bought this zine.
This zine features contributions from independent bookstore owners across Japan, sharing their personal "memories with plants," and beautifully captures the delicate feelings they experience from plants and mountains through careful writing and photographs.
Of all the things I read, what I found most wonderful was the afterword by the author, Yasuko Ito. She said to those who contributed stories about their memories with plants that she felt "as if they had shared a precious treasure with her," and I was deeply moved by this delicate and beautiful expression.
