The allure of Tokimeki Records, vividly coloring the city night.
In today's playlist, WAITER-U will be presenting a selection of songs he has carefully chosen. This time, it's "Tokimeki Records".
Tokimeki Records is a label that started in 2019 and covers nostalgic classic songs.
This label features artists such as Mime's vocalists Hikari and Hannah Warm, as well as Japanese singer Marian Carmel and Asian singer Froya.
These nostalgic J-POP classics are beautifully transformed to create an atmosphere perfectly suited to a city night.
In June 2020, the 7-inch record "OH NO, OH YES!", featuring Mariya Takeuchi's "Plastic Love" and Akina Nakamori's "OH NO, OH YES!", was released. It was so popular that inquiries flooded in even before pre-orders began, and it sold out immediately. Furthermore, this 7-inch record ranked 30th on the Oricon charts, and her cover of Kylie Minogue's "Turn It Into Love" was selected for New Music Friday in nine Asian countries on Spotify.
Tokimeki Records creates adult, mellow nighttime stories through music, featuring synth-heavy electro-boogie sounds and sensual vocals from its singers. For those immersed in the urban nightlife, this nostalgic music project will provide a comforting moment.
Tokimeki Records is known for producing a wide range of cover songs, from classic 80s and 90s hits to the latest releases. They officially launched in 2019 and have released numerous cover songs to date. In 2021, they released their first original song, "SLEEP PARTY," featuring Thai singer mindfreakkk, which garnered further attention. Furthermore, their first original album, "Transparent Girl," is scheduled for release in the fall of 2022.
Tokimeki Records' discography includes numerous cover songs, such as Mariya Takeuchi's "Plastic Love" and Olivia Newton-John's "Physical." They are also very active in live performances and events, and their "Tokimeki Club" event held at Tokyo Kinema Club on November 30, 2021, was a great success.
