This is a record store I've been going to ever since I first moved to Setagaya. It's popular because of its amazing point card system, which is valid as long as the store is open. Once you collect 50 stamps, you can buy any number of records under 15,000 yen for half price.
Raymond Louis Kennedy (November 26, 1946 – February 16, 2014) was an American singer-songwriter and producer from Philadelphia. Because a country singer of the same name later debuted, his name is sometimes written as Raymond Louis Kennedy.
He began listening to jazz from a young age and started teaching himself the saxophone at the age of nine. At 14, he performed with Gerry Mulligan and participated in Kenny Gamble's project, recording with him.
In 1963, John&He formed a group called Ray and signed with Atlantic Records, but their album was never released. In 1968, he joined the group Therapy, and in 1970 he made his solo debut with the album "Raymond Louis Kennedy" on Cream Records, but it was not successful.
In 1976, at the invitation of David Geffen, he formed the band KGB with Carmine Appice, Barry Goldberg, Mike Bloomfield, and Rick Grech. The band's name was taken from the initials of the members' names, but there were frequent member changes, including Mike Bloomfield's early departure, and they only released two albums on MCA Records.
In 1980, he released his solo album "Ray Kennedy" (titled "Lonely Guy" in Japan). This album featured David Foster and members of Toto, and the single "You Oughta Know By Now" (titled "Lonely Guy" in Japan) was used as the theme song for Calpis's soft drink "B&It was used as the theme song for the "L" commercial and reached a peak position of 61st on the Oricon singles chart.
In 1984, as a member of the Michael Schenker Group,Participated in rock festivals at venues such as Seibu Stadium as part of "SUPER ROCK '84 IN JAPAN".I did.
In 1988, she contributed to the Seoul Olympics opening ceremony theme song "Take Me Away," sung by Laura Branigan and Patti Kim, and in 1995, she participated in Fleetwood Mac's album "Time."
He passed away on February 16, 2014, at his home in Los Angeles, at the age of 67.
I stumbled upon "Ray Kennedy" at a record store in Shimokitazawa.
Until I looked into it, I had always believed that he was an artist who had worked and spent his entire life in America, so I was incredibly surprised to learn that he had visited my hometown, Tokorozawa, even if only for a brief moment.
In reality, even if people have unexpected connections, there are many things we won't know unless we listen carefully and talk to them.
I believe that by making it a habit to go out into the city and experience things rather than staying cooped up at home from tomorrow onward, my life will become even more profound.
