Today's playlist. This 19th installment features "Pablo Cruise".

This is a record store I've been going to ever since I first moved to Setagaya. It's popular because of its amazing point card system, which is valid as long as the store is open. Once you collect 50 stamps, you can buy any number of records under 15,000 yen for half price.
Pablo Cruz is an American pop/rock band from San Francisco, and the current member is David Jenkins (guitar).&(Vocals), Corey Relios (Keyboards)&(Vocals), Sergio González (Drums), Larry Antonino (Bass)&(Vocals), Robbie Wikoff (Vocals)&(Percussion) Formed in 1973, this band released eight studio albums in the next decade, five of which reached the top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100. The band underwent numerous member changes and disbanded in 1986, but the original lineup of Jenkins, Lelios, Price, and Bud Cockrell briefly reunited in 2004, and is currently touring with a new lineup that includes two former members.
Success and changes in members
With their 1977 album "A Place in the Sun," the band achieved mainstream success with hits like "Whatcha Gonna Do?" (US #6) and the title track "A Place in the Sun" (US #42). The album peaked at number 19 on the Billboard 200.
After several member changes, Bruce Day joined the band, and they released the 1978 album "Worlds Away." This album produced hit songs such as "Love Will Find a Way" and "Don't Want to Live Without It." The band continued to perform, disbanding once in 1986, but the original members reformed in 2004 and have continued to perform to this day.
Current activities
The band took a break from performing due to the COVID-19 pandemic after their last performance at Rock & Romance Cruise in 2020, but resumed performing in the summer of 2021 and is currently touring mainly within California. They have also continued their musical activities, including releasing a new single, "Breathe."
I also went to San Francisco in the US in 2016, and I remember the atmosphere as if it were yesterday—a mix of indescribable creativity, laid-backness, and chillness all rolled into one.
That's where the melody was born. It's called "Pablo Cruise."
