I bought it at my regular record store in Shimokitazawa, "Flash Disc Ranch."
I've been going to this record store since shortly after I started living in Setagaya. As long as the store exists, its loyalty card is valid, and once you collect 50 stamps, you get half off any records under 15,000 yen, a dangerously popular system that makes this shop a favorite.
Pablo Cruise is an American pop/rock band from San Francisco, currently consisting of David Jenkins (guitar & vocals), Cory Lerios (keyboards & vocals), Sergio Gonzalez (drums), Larry Antonino (bass & vocals), and Robbie Wyckoff (vocals & percussion). Formed in 1973, the band released eight studio albums over the next decade, with five songs reaching the top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100. The band underwent numerous lineup changes and disbanded in 1986, but the original lineup of Jenkins, Lerios, Price, and Bud Cockrell briefly reunited in 2004. They now continue to tour with new members, including two former members.
Success and Member Changes
With their 1977 album "A Place in the Sun," the band made a name for themselves in the mainstream music scene with hits like "Whatcha Gonna Do?" (No. 6 on the national charts) and the album's title track "A Place in the Sun" (No. 42 on the national charts). The album reached a peak of No. 19 on the Billboard 200.
Subsequently, member changes continued, and Bruce Day joined for the 1978 album "Worlds Away." This album produced hits like "Love Will Find a Way" and "Don't Want to Live Without It." The band continued its activities, disbanding once in 1986, but former members reunited in 2004, and they have been active ever since.
Current Activities
The band's last performance was at the 2020 Rock and Romance Cruise, after which their activities were temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they resumed performances in the summer of 2021 and are currently touring mainly within California. The band also continues its musical endeavors, having released a new single "Breathe."
I also visited San Francisco, USA, in 2016, and I vividly remember the indescribable blend of creativity, looseness, and chill atmosphere as if it were yesterday.
