This is a record store I've been going to ever since I first moved to Setagaya. It's popular because of its amazing point card system, which is valid as long as the store is open. Once you collect 50 stamps, you can buy any number of records under 15,000 yen for half price.

Arabesque, a female vocal trio from West Germany (now Germany), debuted in 1977 and was active until around 1985. Their unique disco sound and glamorous stage performances captivated music fans worldwide.

History
Origins and early success
Arabesque was formed in 1977 by West German businessman Wolfgang Möwes. Inspired by the success of Boney M, he wanted to create a similar project. Their early hit song, "Hello Mr. Monkey," was quickly released by Victor Entertainment in Japan and became a huge hit.
A huge hit in Japan
In 1978, "Hello Mr. Monkey" became a huge hit in Japan, topping the Oricon International Singles Chart for three consecutive weeks. This success led to Arabesque establishing a permanent lineup of Sandra Ann Lauer, Michella Rose, and Jasmine Elizabeth Fetter. Sandra Ann Lauer, in particular, captivated Japanese fans with her beauty and model-like figure.
Global expansion
Arabesque's popularity began in Japan and spread throughout Asia, including South Korea and Chinese-speaking regions. They also achieved great success in the Soviet Union and Central and South America. However, in their home country of West Germany, only three of their songs made it into the top 40 of the German singles chart: "Don't Hurt Me" (40th), "Marigold of Sorrow" (8th), and "Merry-Go-Round of Love" (25th).
Suspension of activities and reunion
Arabesque, which had temporarily ceased activities in 1985, made a guest appearance at Moscow's Retro FM Festival in December 2006, with original member Michella Rose and new members, performing their classic hits. This led to rumors of a world tour and the release of a new album.
Legendary Legacy
Arabesque continues to be loved by many fans for their unique style and music. Their music will undoubtedly continue to be remembered as a symbol of the golden age of disco.
